Over a month ago, I went to a Weight Watchers meeting with my mum. It was the only one I went to. I just received a friend request from the leader of Weight Watchers on Facebook, that I only said a couple of words to, and I also told her it was doubtful I would make all, or any, meetings, as I was mostly just going with my mum.
The fact that we have no friends in common, but she has my name from the forms I signed when I got there, suggests creepy.

Sums up my weekend.
I am extremely lucky to have been brought up this way. My mum was told at school to apply to be a librarian, but instead got a 2.1 in Mathis from strathy, worked her way up in the civil service, and is one of the few woman in Scotland of her grade. She works ridiculously hard, went through a lot of shit, divorced my dad, had 5 kids, but still keeps going and has always told me I can do whatever I want in life. The fact that some girls are not brought up this way makes me feel very lucky.Being taught from the beginning that women are equal to men and that my gender is not an obstacle in front of success or happiness was wonderful.
It very much pains me that there are girls who don’t have this opportunity and that they grow up believing that they are an inferior sex.
I want to explain to them that we are all equally capable of achieving the same things, that the world is their oyster and that understanding their own mind is the most powerful thing that they can have on their side.
I understand that all social conditoning is dependent on circumstance and individual environment however, I don’t believe anyone should be blind to their own potential.
